I’m excited to share the work of Hands and Feet in South Africa! Check it out at www.handsandfeetsouthafrica.org
When you or I stand on the scale we may wish we could lose a few pounds.
Living in the sand dunes outside of Cape Town there are children so desperately poor that their lives are at risk because of their dangerously low weight. At Hands and Feet one of the first interventions for children is inviting these precious kids to step on the scale.
Getting a child’s weight begins a series of ongoing wrap around services to help them and their family thrive by providing nutrition and education, occupational therapy, support groups and job readiness programs.
Over time when kids stand on the scale again we can celebrate! They gain weight and grow! And they reach so many more milestones in addition to a healthy weight. This is all because of Hands and Feet. An organization dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus to some of the most vulnerable families in Cape Town, South Africa.
Driven by the desire to support this work and mobilize our Chicago community I helped to started a small not for profit in the U.S. to support the work of Hands and Feet. And we also want to support you! So many families have told us that they long to break out of the bubble of suburbia and help their kids see the world through new eyes. They want their kids to know not only are they blessed but that they are blessed to be a blessing.
I’d love to share more about Hands and Feet with you! Please reach out to chat more. Check out our website www.handsandfeetsouthafrica.org
